Commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King’s Legacy: Examining His Speech and Its Connection to Our Tradition

Hosted By: Stephen Wise Free Synagogue

“No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until “justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream,” said Dr. Martin Luther King on August 28, 1963. Join us as we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy. This year, we are diving into use of Biblical references and allusions from our sacred Bible in his momentous, “I Have a Dream Speech.” Led by our congregant Rabbi Neal Borovitz and Social Justice Program Associate Steven Morris, we’ll examine how Dr. King interpreted the Biblical references and the parallel role that the Prophets and social justice play in both of our traditions.
