Echoes of the Past: Jewish Life in Venice’s Ghetto and Beyond

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher explores the history of the Jews of Venice, the first community confined to a designated “ghetto” yet valued for their contributions to the city’s welfare. The session highlights life inside and outside the Venetian Ghetto, along with notable figures from its Golden Age. It also examines how Venice’s present-day Jewish community preserves its heritage through synagogues, museums, and cultural programs.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
