The Karaite Jews of Egypt — A Hidden Chapter in Jewish History

Hosted By: Qesher

Qesher presents a lecture on the lesser-known legacy of Karaite Jews in Egypt, explored through personal family history and the streets of Alexandria. At their height, Karaites formed a distinct part of Jewish life with their own customs, synagogues, and interpretations of Jewish law. The session will examine how Karaites differ from Rabbanite Jews and how this unique tradition continues today in other parts of the world.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
