Sephardic Life in Seattle: A Tapestry Unfurled and Extended
Hosted By: Qesher
Hosted by Qesher, this program explores Seattle’s vibrant Sephardic community, the third-largest in the United States, founded nearly 125 years ago by immigrants from Turkey and Rhodes. Centered around two historic synagogues, the community continues to flourish through cultural revival initiatives and the University of Washington’s Sephardic Studies Program, which houses a major Ladino archive. Seattle also plays a pivotal role in Spanish citizenship efforts for Sephardic Jews and supports the nation’s only youth summer camp devoted to Sephardic traditions.
