HBI Scholar in Residence and University of Arizona professor Max Strassfeld argues that rabbinic literature’s eunuchs and androgynes profoundly shaped ideas about law, as the rabbis constructed intricate classifications of gender across dozens of texts to understand an array of cultural tensions.
