Jewish Genealogy: Getting the Most Out of Online Resources
Hosted By: My Jewish Learning
Our first course on constructing Jewish family trees was so popular that we’ve added more! Note: No prior knowledge is necessary to enjoy this course.
Expert researcher Nolan Altman, the director of data at JewishGen — one of the largest Jewish genealogy databases in the world — has teamed up with My Jewish Learning to help you get started on your journey back in time.
In this new two-part online course, you will cover the following topics:
- Get the most out of JewishGen
Think of this as the Jewish version of Ancestry or My Heritage. With over 30 million records, it is an indelible resource for those looking for Jewish family information.
- Other general how-to
Nolan will look to cover topics ranging from how to find old school yearbooks to deciphering federal and state census reports to deciding on whether or not a DNA test is right for you.
Each registrant will get to keep recordings of each class session so you can refer back to them as you research on your own.
2 Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. ET: Nov. 11 and 18
All classes will be recorded and sent to registrants.
