Instilling Yiddishkayt into Zionism

Hosted By: YIVO

YIVO hosts a discussion on instilling Yiddishkayt into Zionism, focusing on Abba Kovner’s efforts to blend Jewish culture with the kibbutz lifestyle at Kibbutz Ein HaHoresh. Kovner, a WWII partisan, poet, and intellectual, aimed to preserve East European Jewish traditions while adapting to the new societal norms of Zionism. His synthesis of Jewish values and secular realism created a community that drew inspiration from Jewish foundations while innovating within the kibbutz framework.
