Chosenness: Merits, Myths and Misunderstandings

Hosted By: London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS)

A new course explores the concept of being “chosen by God” through a detailed examination of biblical texts, radical interpretations from medieval rabbis, and contemporary perspectives. Rabbi Prof. Sam Lebens conducts a comprehensive survey of Jewish philosophical attitudes toward chosenness, presenting his findings and suggesting applications for personal life and the State of Israel today. The series concludes with a session where Rabbi Prof. Lebens engages in a dialogue with a Christian religious leader, comparing the notion of chosenness between Judaism and Christianity.
