A Prophetic Journey: Exploring the Balance Between Fate and Free Will

Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

In Jewish tradition, the Hebrew prophets are the mouthpieces of God. In modern day life, visionaries are like prophets. Past or present, each offers us a glimpse into a world that could be. They point us toward the same question: To what extent are our lives bound by fate or determined by the choices we freely make. From Isaiah to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Abraham Heschel, we will find contemporary meaning in the teachings of prophets, both Biblical and modern. Join expert Melton educator, Lynne Lieberman, to discover how the prophets’ messages move us from ignorance to truth, from injustice to justice, and from despair to joy.

January 12, 19, 26, and February 2, 2023. Sign-up is permitted after the first class.
