How to Wear Tallit (video)

The Jewish prayer shawl that surrounds us when we pray.

How do you put on a tallit? A tallit (or tallis) is the ceremonial Jewish prayer shawl worn during services. Rabbi Steven Exler demonstrates the rules and customs of wearing a tallit.

Here is the blessing:

Baruch ata Adonai, Eloheinu melech ha’olam, asher kiddeshanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu l’hitatef b’tzitzit.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, Ruler of the universe, who blesses us with commandments and commanded us to wrap ourselves in tzitzit.
