Jerusalem: City of the Book — Secrets, Gatekeepers, and the Libraries that Made a City

Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")

The Community Scholar Program presents a 50-minute illustrated talk that takes participants inside Jerusalem’s hidden libraries, inspired by the book “Jerusalem: City of the Book” (Yale University Press) with photographs by Frédéric Brenner. Through rare access to Jewish, Islamic, and Christian collections, the program explores how libraries preserve and reveal the city’s intellectual and spiritual treasures. Stories from the field include gaining entry to the Temple Mount with the Waqf and using advanced imaging to revive fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
