Walking Through Time: Jewish Heritage in Istanbul’s Balat

Hosted By: Orange County Jewish Community Scholar Program ("CSP")

Orange County Community Scholar Program presents a one-hour interactive walking tour through the historic neighborhood of Balat, Turkey. Participants will explore centuries-old synagogues, stone-paved alleyways, and the iconic Ahrida Synagogue, learning about the Sephardic Jews who arrived in Istanbul after the 1492 expulsion and daily life under the Ottoman Empire. With real-time Q&A and vivid storytelling, the program brings to life the multi-faith history of Istanbul’s Jewish past.
