May You Be Inscribed in the Book of Life: The Story of the Jewish New Year Card

Hosted By: Orange County Community Scholar Program (CSP)

Community Scholar Program presents a lecture on the origins and development of the Jewish New Year card and its relationship to broader cultural trends. The program will explore how the invention of the postcard influenced the spread of this custom and how various Jewish communities—including those in Germany, Poland, the United States, and the Land of Israel—used the cards to express identity and values. The imagery and messages on the cards will be examined as reflections of historical events, communal aspirations, and ideological movements.
