A Look at Jewish Colombia: Its Community, History, and Challenges

Hosted By: Qesher

Learn about the Jewish presence in Colombia, its historical roots, how the communities were established, the challenges we faced during the country’s Civil War, and how our identity has been shaped by all these factors. My name is Vivianne and I am a third-generation Jew living in Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. I will tell you the history of my family and use that as a springboard to show you about my community and my country, illustrated by fascinating historical anecdotes and the recent resurgence of people who are rediscovering their lost Jewish roots.

Host

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
