Blacks, Jews, and Reconciliation

Jeremiah Wright was in the news again last week blaming the Jews for his inability to talk to President Obama. Of course, he backtracked, saying he really meant Zionists. That makes it so much better.

This supposed (meaning, not exactly true) clashing between the Black and Jewish communities is nothing new. In fact, MyJewishLearning has more than one article on the subject, including this great one about Black-Jewish relations today.

But Wright’s blabbermouth inspired The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore to reconcile their differences and apologize for bad things each community has done to the other. I’ll let you watch it. But I can assure any Black person that Jon Stewart speaks for all of us when he apologizes for Neil Diamond’s remake of The Jazz Singer.
