Indian Cholent

Spices from the subcontinent combined with the classic flavors of cholent.

Ingredients

  1. 2 teaspoons salt
  2. water to cover
  3. 1/2 bag baby carrots, diced
  4. 1 1/2 cups yellow lentils or channa daal
  5. 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  6. 2-3 pieces chicken on the bone
  7. 1 stick cinnamon
  8. 4 cloves garlic
  9. 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, ground
  10. 2 teaspoons turmeric
  11. 1 potatoes, diced
  12. 1 onions, diced

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a crockpot, cover with water.

Set on low before Shabbat and allow to cook until ready to serve, about 18 hours.
