Virtual Tour of the Historic Lazama Synagogue in the Mellah (Jewish Quarter) of Marrakech

Hosted By: The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy (LESJC)

The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy presents a virtual tour of the Lazama Synagogue, founded in 1492 in the mellah of Marrakech by Sephardic Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition. Participants will explore the historic synagogue and learn about the Andalusian culture these refugees brought to Morocco. The tour is led by a guide from the Mimouna Association, an organization founded by Moroccan Muslims to preserve and promote Judeo-Moroccan heritage.
