Tu Bishvat Israel Tour and the Seven Species

Hosted By: Baltimore Zionist District

This Tu Bishvat event will focus on the seven species, the shivat haminim that are noted in the Bible as being special to the land of Israel.

We will focus on the pomegranate, with its numerous seeds, symbolizing fruitfulness; wheat, which connects with the weekly Shabbat challah; and olives. We will visit Sindyanna of Galilee, the only fair-trade olive oil producer in Israel and established by women. With their focus on “business for peace,” this female-led entrepreneurship is creating new pathways in Israel.

As part of the tour, we will have a “Virtual Tree Planting Ceremony” of a tree planted in honor of the Baltimore Zionist District in the town of Modi’in.
