Torah of the Heart: King David’s Divas

Hosted By: Keeping It Sacred (KITS)

Join KITS for Torah of the Heart! Their newest teachings by guest Rabbis every other Monday in May and June. This week: Rabbi Rose Durbin teaches King David’s Divas.

Sure, King David gets all the credit and famous naked statues, but the secret of his political success lay entirely with his 3 named wives’ strategic political influence. We will dig into the rich and surprising narratives of Michal, Abigail, and Batsheva (who, by the way, did much more for the Jewish people than simply bathe on the roof for David’s enjoyment)! Get the inside scoop on these unsung heroes in our tradition, and obtain more insight into Jewish feminism along the way, as you study these important texts.

Rabbi Rose comes to us from sunny south Florida, where she recently served as a Hillel rabbi for the last five years and is currently focusing on officiating joyful and inclusive lifecycle events. She loves Jewish feminism, her large fluffy Golden-doodle, three energetic daughters, devoted rabbi partner, and all things TV and pop culture.

Every other Monday at 10am PT/1pm ET through May and June.

No experience necessary. All are welcome!

Keeping It Sacred programs are FREE for all because we uphold the value of keruv/accessibility; voluntary financial contributions to help offset the cost of these programs and are greatly appreciated.

Please note that the gathering begins at 5pm PT. We enjoy participation from friends all over the world, so please adjust your time zone accordingly. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Rabbi Miller: rabbimiller@keepingitsacred.com or our Digital Media Manager, Molly Flanagan: mflanagan@keepingitsacred.com.
