The Musical Traditions of Moroccan Jews
Hosted By: Qesher
Qesher presents a talk on the diverse musical traditions of Moroccan Jewish life, preserved, blended, and adapted over centuries through frequent collaboration with Muslim musicians. The session explores the music of both men and women, including sacred, liturgical, and humorous traditions, as a broader sonic world through which Moroccan Jews expressed their identities.
