Shanda! Shameful Family Secrets with Letty Cottin Pogrebin and Abigail Pogrebin

Hosted By: Moment Magazine

Hiding secrets that might bring disgrace or shame (“shanda” in Yiddish) to the family is a longtime Jewish tradition. Therefore, many secrets are passed down from generation to generation, creating unspoken trauma. Join Moment columnist and founding editor of Ms. Magazine Letty Cottin Pogrebin, author of the new book Shanda: A Memoir of Shame and Secrecy, for a conversation about her family’s secrets and why we keep secrets, the power they hold over us and how to come to terms with them so we can finally let go of the shame. Letty will be in conversation with her daughter, author and journalist Abigail Pogrebin.
