Pewish Studies: National Surveys, Jewish Identity, and Community Responses
Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning
After a prolonged sabbatical, national Jewish surveys are back. The Pew Center made the American Jewish community the subject of national studies in 2013 and 2020. This raises a number of interesting questions to consider: What is the purpose of a national Jewish survey? What do the latest Pew studies tell us about our Jewish community? In this two-session class, American historian, Dr. Joellyn Zollman, will consider the history of counting Jews in the United States, as well as the content of the latest Pew studies. In the second session, Dr. Zollman will be joined by community leaders to discuss specific take-aways from the 2020 Pew Survey.
