On Purim, You Gotta Laugh!

Hosted By: Chicago YIVO Society

AF PURIM DARF MEN LAKHN!

Cantor, actor, and Yiddish performer Stewart Figa returns to Chicago YIVO for a free live zoom concert of humorous Yiddish songs, jokes, and stories to celebrate the fun side of the Purim holiday.  He pays tribute to such Jewish comedy legends as Menashe Skulnik, Aaron Lebedeff, Mickey Katz, Bruce Adler, Allen Sherman, and others. Much of his material will be in mamaloshen with translation provided. Figa, a Grammy-nominated performer, has toured internationally and been cheered by capacity audiences. Stewart has sung at the U.S. Holocaust Museum and the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, where a historic picture of his father Leon Figa, a Partisan resistance fighter in the forests of Belarus, is on permanent display.
