Michael Winograd Plays Tanz: A Live Album Recreation

Hosted By: Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan

During a 2018 snowstorm, acclaimed Brooklyn klezmer clarinetist Michael Winograd began transcribing the Tanz album from beginning to end. While it had become much loved during the klezmer revival of the 1980s, the music had never been performed in its complete form, from beginning to end. Now, more than six decades after its release, Winograd is joined by a stellar band of musicians to bring Tanz to life, performing the full album for a live concert filming.
