Hosted By: My Jewish Learning

Join Oreet Jehassi Schwartz, founder of SharQui: The Bellydance Workout (sharqi meaning ‘Eastern’ in Arabic) to learn about her traditional dance raqs sharqi, (belly dance) and her ethnic Yemenite dance, also known as the Yemenite step. She will discuss how belly dance and Yemenite step become popular in Israel; how and why they influenced modern Israeli culture today; the history of belly dance, and how learning to belly dance can encourage body love and acceptance.
