Like Everyone Else But Different: The Jewish Glass is Half Full

Hosted By: Kolot Mayim Reform Temple

Eminent Sociologist, Professor Morton Weinfeld will demonstrate how Canadian Jews have overcome the potential risks of assimilation and diversity amid new challenges in the Jewish community. These include creating equal space for women and LGBTQ+, and the tensions between non-orthodox and orthodox Jews and the newer progressive religious options. Professor Weinfeld will examine recent forms of real and perceived antisemitism often related to Zionism. Drawing on his personal experience and scholarship, he will provide a provocative account of Jewish life and multiculturalism in contemporary Canada.
