Jewish Feminist Thought: Unfinished Agendas, New Directions

Hosted By: Temple Israel of Boston

Half a century ago, Jewish feminist activists began a quest to transform Jewish life. In many ways they were successful: access to Jewish tradition and leadership no longer excluded women and LGBTQ people. But feminist activists also sought to expose the conceptual structures underlying social and religious exclusion. How have we fared on that front? How has Jewish religious ideas about God, religious authority, gender and bodies shifted as a result of feminist changes in Jewish life?

Join us as we learn from Mara H. Benjamin, the Irene Kaplan Leiwant Professor and Chair of Jewish Studies at Mount Holyoke College and leading scholar of modern Jewish thought and theology. This online event is free and open to all. Contact Brigid Goggin at bgoggin@tisrael.org with questions.
