Gal Beckerman on “The Quiet Before”

Hosted By: Santa Fe Distinguished Lecture Series a program of the Institute for Tolerance Studies

Gal Beckerman is an award-winning author, leading American critical thinker, and associate editor of The Atlantic. He will speak on June 14 for an Institute for Tolerance Studies/Santa Fe Distinguished Lecture Series webinar on the impact of social media on social movements today. His new book on the subject, The Quiet Before, has received widespread praise and is being mentioned as one of the best books of 2022. In each case, Beckerman shows that our most defining social movements—from decolonization to feminism—were formed in quiet, closed networks that allowed a small group to incubate their ideas before broadcasting them widely. This program is made possible in part with support from the New Mexico Humanities Council. For further information or to register for this free webinar go to www.tolerancestudies.org.
