Covering and Uncovering: The Texts of Chanukah

This session will analyse the book of Judith, from the Apocrypha, in which Hannah the Maccabee compels her brothers to rise up against Greek oppressors and ensured the salvation of the Jewish people. Through discussing the concepts of modesty and heroism, we will uncover insights into the difference between biblical and apocryphal texts, and gain new perspectives on the Chanukah story.
