Building A Home: Work of the Living and Work of the Dead

Hosted By: Kolot Mayim Reform Temple

Rabbi Lynn Greenhough from Kolot Mayim Reform Temple in Victoria BC Canada will speak about Building A Home: Work of the Living and Work of the Dead. She will explore the construction of ‘homes’ for our dead and how Jews have understood communication between the living and the dead. She will discuss how our beliefs and ritual responses have changed – or not – particularly since the Enlightenment. Lynn Greenhough’s many years serving and teaching about the Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Burial Societies) has stimulated an interest in funerary and burial customs as they have evolved over the millennia. This is a partnership event between Kolot Mayim Reform Temple in Victoria, BC and Temple Beth Ora in Edmonton, AB.
