Bringing the Big World into the Little Classroom
Hosted By: Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education
The Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education presents a conversation in its Learning About Learning series with Dr. Lauren Applebaum and Professor Sivan Zakai. The session will focus on how Jewish children today think about pressing world issues such as climate change, homelessness, wars, and political polarization, and how educators interpret and respond to these concerns. Drawing on a collaborative study of 4th and 5th graders in both day and supplementary schools, the discussion will explore children’s perspectives, the challenges their teachers face, and the implications for Jewish education.
