Berlin Jewish Heritage Through the Ages

Hosted By: Qesher

This Jewish Berlin tour explores the history of Berlin’s Jewish community from early settlers to modern times. Participants will visit the oldest Jewish cemetery, see the New Berlin Synagogue, and learn about Jewish merchants, financiers, and intellectuals. The tour includes visits to the “Memorial of the Murdered Jews of Europe” and the “Trains to Life—Trains to Death” Monument, uncovering the darkest period of Berlin Jews’ history, and concludes with insights into the Jewish communities in the GDR and their rebuilding on both sides of the Berlin Wall.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
