17th IAYC Conference: In memory of Shura Vaisman
The International Association of Yiddish Clubs is proud to announce that its 17th conference will be held online on February 27, 2022. This day long gathering will feature talks, presentations, and performances by some of today’s leading scholars and artists in Yiddish culture, as well as time to gather and connect as a community. This conference is convened in honor and memory of beloved colleague and friend Shura Vaisman z”l, who was an accomplished scientist and pioneering figure in the field of animated Yiddish films and early Yiddish websites. As she was a native of Chernovtsy (also known as Czernowitz or Tshernovits), many of the presentations will focus on the rich history and culture of this storied center of Yiddish letters and song.
