The South Philadelphia Shtiebel is a spiritual home for Jewish living, vibrant study, and community connection in South Philadelphia.

Although we only opened in 2019, the Shtiebel has established itself as a shul, but not just any shul. It is already also a community center, buzzing with spirited Jewish learning, kids playing, new friendships forming, and lively prayer services. It’s a warm and accessible space, where both lifetime shul-goers and people who haven’t set foot in a synagogue in twenty years can feel invited to be active participants in Jewish life. And it’s a genuinely unique space, a space rooted in halacha, or Jewish law, and also a home for emergent ideas.

We believe in a Judaism that enriches and deeply nourishes us, that informs our everyday values, and that challenges and supports us to become the best people we can be in the world. We believe in yiddishkeit – a Judaism we feel deeply in our bones, that allows us to imagine the world we want to see and build it together.
