Meet My Jewish Learning’s Staff

My Jewish Learning is all about empowering Jewish discovery for anyone interested in learning more, and our site is geared toward all backgrounds and levels of knowledge. My Jewish Learning was launched in 2003 and is now a part of 70 Faces Media, the largest nonprofit, nondenominational Jewish media organization in North America.

Rachel Scheinerman

Editor, My Jewish Learning

Rachel Scheinerman came to My Jewish Learning after a stint as the web editor at the Jewish Review of Books. She holds an MA in Scripture & Interpretation from Harvard Divinity School and a PhD in Rabbinic Literature from Yale University. She launched a Daily Dose of Talmud — a daf yomi newsletter — because, after all these years, she’s still trying to learn Talmud. She also loves publishing pieces on Jewish prayer, Jewish ritual, Jewish history, Hebrew Bible and Jewish customs from around the world — among many other things. She enjoys baking challah and decorating with hamsas.

Rachel can be reached at rscheinerman@myjewishlearning.com.

Ben Harris

Managing Editor, My Jewish Learning

Ben Harris is the managing editor of My Jewish Learning. He oversees MJL’s daily Kaddish minyan, writes and edits articles for the site, and is the go-to guy for issues relating to prayer, spirituality and Jewish law. He was formerly an editor and reporter at MJL’s sister site, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, and his writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe and New York magazine. He lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, where he spends an inordinate amount of time in his home recording studio and sitting in silence.

Ben can be reached at ben@myjewishlearning.com.

Abby Seitz

Associate Editor, My Jewish Learning

Abby Seitz (she/her) is the associate editor at My Jewish Learning. She curates MJL’s daily newsletter and manages MJL’s presence on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Twitter. She is particularly interested in highlighting global Jewish communities and customs, as well as queer Jewish history. She earned a BA in Multimedia Journalism from Columbia College Chicago and lived on a ship through Semester at Sea; she has also studied in the batei midrash of the Conservative Yeshiva, SVARA and Azara. She lives in Jerusalem, where she organizes an egalitarian living room minyan and enjoys camping/hiking, making ceramics, and backpacking to new countries — she’s been to 40+ so far!

Abby can be reached at aseitz@myjewishlearning.com.
