Psalm 27 expresses deep faith in God’s protection in the face of life’s dangers and uncertainties. But the psalmist also gives voice to creeping doubt that everything always works out as promised.

שְׁמַע־יְהוָ֖ה קוֹלִ֥י אֶקְרָ֗א וְחָנֵּ֥נִי וַעֲנֵֽנִי׃
Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; have mercy on me, answer me.
