Jews, Non-Jews, and the Purpose of the High Holidays

The Jewish Theological Seminary of America presents a webinar on the universalist vision of the Amidah for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, in which God reigns, all people live in peace, and oppressive regimes disappear. Dr. David Kraemer, Joseph J. and Dora Abbell Librarian and Professor of Talmud and Rabbinics, will explore the prayer’s theological and ethical dimensions. Drawing on his book “Embracing Exile: The Case for Jewish Diaspora,” he will discuss how life in the diaspora can help realize the Amidah’s expansive spiritual goals.
