Openly Orthodox

Last weekend’s Jewish Week had an article on the new conversion courts established by the Rabbinical Council of America under pressure from the Israeli chief rabbinate — and the article contained a funny mistake.

The article quotes Rabbi Avi Weiss who’s concerned with this development:

“It’s no secret that in Israel today [the Chief Rabbinate] represents the haredi element, said Rabbi Avi Weiss, leader of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, and founder of “openly Orthodox rabbinical school Yeshivat Chovevei Torah.

Problem is, Rabbi Weiss calls Chovevei Torah’s ideology as “open Orthodox” not “openly Orthodox.”
