Yad Vashem’s 5-Part Educational Series on the Holocaust: Tours, Workshops and Discussions

Join Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial, for a brand new educational series. The series meets on five Sundays, and you are welcome to join for any or all sessions, which are held at 3:00 p.m. ET/12:00 p.m. PT/ 8:00 pm London time/ 10:00 pm Israel time.

Sunday June 6th: Virtual Tour of Yad Vashem’s campus: Heroism and Resistance

Join us as we explore the Yad Vashem outdoor campus, focusing on the themes of heroism and resistance. We will learn about Jews in the ghettos who sacrificed their lives fighting the Nazis, as partisans or as soldiers in the Allied forces.

Sunday June 13th, 2021: American Jewry and the Holocaust
Learn about American Jewry, their response and the extent of their knowledge, during the Holocaust, in this lecture.

Sunday June 27th, 2021: Virtual Tour of Yad Vashem’s Museum: Through the Eye’s of a Child

In this virtual tour of the Yad Vashem museum we will focus on stories of children and youth in the Holocaust using artifacts and imagery from the exhibits. Did children in the ghettos hold on to their sense of innocence, or was it challenged by the conditions in the ghetto? How were their realities unique and different from adults? What happened to those children during liberation, and how did they begin to build their lives, often after they had lost everything?

Sunday July 11th, 2021: Rescue by Jews

Learn the stories about the heroic Jews who risked their lives to save other Jews. This presentation will highlight the stories of both individuals and organisations determined to save Jews, and the dilemmas they faced while trying.

Sunday, July 25th, 2021: Virtual Tour of Block 27: The Exhibition “Shoah” at the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum

The tour will explore the central themes of the Holocaust, offer insights into the rich Jewish life that existed prior to 1939, the world of children during the Shoah and the monumental Book of Names.
