Virtual Tour of Northern Israel

Hosted By: Baltimore Zionist District

Please join the BZD in collaboration with Ofek Learning Hub by IAC for a historical tour of Northern Israel guided by Maya Lotan. Our tour to the north will depart from the Byzantine city of Caesarea. Caesarea will be the physical and historical starting point of our story. The story of the destruction of the Second Temple and the beginning of alternative Judaism, Judaism without a Temple. Judaism that seeks leadership and finds it in the north of the country. Leadership develops through learning and asking questions, moving in space between different communities until it establishes itself and Judaism in the new structure. But even this does not freeze time and continues to develop with the movement of the Jewish people around the world and its return to the north of the country in the Middle Ages. During the tour, we will visit Beit Shearim, Tzipori, and Safed, and through these sites, we will get to know the changes that the Jewish world is going through between the 6th and 16th centuries.
