Traces of Memory: A Contemporary Look at Poland’s Jewish Past
Hosted By: Haberman Institute
Join the Haberman Institute for a virtual visit to the Galicia Jewish Museum to explore “Traces of Memory: A Contemporary Look at the Jewish Past in Poland.” This exhibition pieces together a picture of the relics of Jewish life and culture in Polish Galicia that can still be seen today, in an informative, accessible, and thought-provoking manner. The exhibition laments the Jewish civilization that once flourished in this country, recognizes the locations where that annihilation took place and gives credit to commemorative efforts that have occurred since the Holocaust.
Divided into sections the exhibition is comprised of five topics: Jewish Life in Ruins, Jewish Culture as it Once Was, Sites of Massacre and Destruction, How the Past is Being Remembered, and finally, Revival of Jewish Life, illustrating the scale of the positive changes that have taken place in Poland over the last 30 years and the unexpected phenomenon of the revival of Jewish life in a present-day Poland.
