The Year of Shemita: From Biblical Revolution to Modern Solution
Hosted By: London School of Jewish Studies (LSJS)

Shemita (every 7th year we are commanded not to work the land) presents us with an extremely inspiring and challenging vision to be implemented once every seven years. In ancient times, Jewish people struggled with these challenges, never fully managing to implement the great vision. Upon the return to Israel in modern times, new challenges, as well as new opportunities, have arisen.
Over five weeks, study the biblical, philosophical and halachic aspects of this mitzvah, and survey the main approaches taken in contemporary Israel to grapple with the practical implementation of Shemita.
