The Two Millennia Story of Moroccan Jewry

Hosted By: Qesher

Morocco is home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in the Diaspora. We will explore the past and present of Moroccan Jewry while addressing some central questions related to why the Jews left or stayed, what is Jewish life like in Morocco today, and what is the future of Moroccan Jews in the country.

This talk is live and interactive, the number of participants is limited. With your contribution to Qesher you will also be donating to the “Shahar Avakeshkha שחר אבקשך” project, which aims at preserving the tradition of North African Jewry mainly through keeping alive the tradition of singing Bakkashot (supplications) and Andalusian music in Israel.

Host

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
