The Fragility of Democracy Lessons From the Weimar Republic

Hosted By: RVCC Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies

Dr. Michael Berenbaum presents “The Fragility of Democracy, Reflections on the Weimar Republic, and Why the Holocaust Still Echoes in the World Today,” examining the transition from a fragile democracy to a totalitarian regime in Germany and its relevance to current global challenges in democratic stability. Historians now emphasize the importance of understanding the past not only in its own context but also in terms of its implications for the present and future. The event will also honor Peppy Margolis, former director of the Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies, recognizing her 15 years of contributions to Holocaust education in New Jersey.
