The Assyrians have risen to power, and Israel faces a choice: repent or be doomed to exile. The Book of Amos deals with timeless messages of social justice and religious integrity against a backdrop of economic prosperity and complacency.
Amos’ language is lyrical and evocative, commanding attention and drawing on historical memory. We will explore Amos’ medium and his messages, exposing the intertextuality that takes us back to Genesis and forward to the present.
This course will be offered twice on Tuesdays, at 1.00-2.30pm and then repeated at 7.30-9.00pm UK time. Following registration, you will receive the relevant links prior to each session. You will be able to then choose which timeslot works best for you.
