The Bard & the Bible: Comparing Shakespeare to the Torah

Hosted By: The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

To learn, or not to learn? That is the question. And here at Melton, we always vote “to learn”. It is especially fun to learn about how the Torah’s writing style compares to that of one of history’s greatest writers: William Shakespeare! Join Cantor Matt Austerklein for a lively hour of reading both Shakespearean and sacred text. This class will first cover tools for analyzing rhetoric, then apply this framework to discover how it can help us elucidate both the Bard & the Bible.
