The Art of Supernatural Judaism

To celebrate the JCCSF’s newest art exhibition, “Magical Thinking: Superstitions & Other Persistent Notions,” (curate by The Heller Museum at HUC) Jewish demonologist & SVARA Teaching Fellow Olivia Devorah Tucker will be a gallery tour guide. Focusing on Golems, Dybbuks, amulets, black cats, and the High Holidays ritual of kaparot, you will learn about these works of art so we can ask, answer, and deepen our questions about the supernatural in Judaism. Through this exploration and connecting with each other, you’ll leave with ideas to extend these discoveries to your audiences and opportunities to bring folks to see the exhibit in person.
