Rosh Hashanah Food Traditions Around the World

Hosted By: Qesher

“They tried to kill us, we survived, let’s eat!”–the theme of every Jewish holiday! But what exactly are we eating? And why? Jewish culinary tradition varies between families. Food-related differences can be attributed to the surrounding culture, to geographical location, and to food migration around the globe. This talk will feature a brief overview of different Jewish culinary traditions, their history, and the way each dish is making its way through the diaspora.

This talk is live and interactive, the number of participants is limited. With your contribution to Qesher you will also be donating to the Comfort Food Pantry, which provides food, clothing, groceries & cash assistance at no cost to families in the East Valley regardless of age, affiliation or background.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
