Leaving Their Mark: How Migration Has Shaped Israeli Society

Hosted By: The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University

Israeli society, and its priorities, have been shaped by new arrivals throughout its history. Many became the architects of public policy, while others engendered profound political or social change. This course will explore the impact of immigrants who arrived at very different historical moments: the five pre-state waves; those who came from Arab lands in the 1950s and 1960s; immigrants from the Former Soviet Union in the 1980s and 1990s; and migrant workers from Africa and Asia who arrived in the 1990s and 2000s.
