Jewish New York: The Upper West Side

Hosted By: Qesher

Join Qesher to explore the unique and rich history of the Jewish community of the Upper West Side in New York. The neighborhood is a “powerhouse” of iconic Synagogues, renowned Jewish schools, multiple cultural and educational institutions and, of course, great Jewish eateries. Visit many of these sites and review the patterns of migration that brought Jews to this special neighborhood from the Lower East Side and in later years from Europe as Jewish refugees began fleeing the war. Learn how this special community continues to shape the identity of American Jewry to this day.

Qesher

There are Jewish communities all around the globe with their own unique history, culture, places, and most of all, people and stories. All of them different, but sharing so much. The aim of Qesher is to connect these different Jewish traditions, not just to know of each other, but to learn about each other. We believe that there is great value in creating a deeper understanding within the Jewish world and exploring Jewish experiences and identities in all their diversity.
